Taxi for Persons with Disabilities

To make life easier for our disabled fellow citizens, we have arranged a special taxi service. Persons with a severe walking disability and blind persons can use taxis, vehicles belonging to the Austrian association of non-war invalids (Österreichischer Zivilinvalidenverband) and the Austrian Red Cross within Klagenfurt. 80 per cent of the fare (maximum: €44 per month) is refunded. To qualify for this, you have to submit the fare receipts to Abteilung Soziales at Klagenfurt Magistrat (municipal authority) during the following month.

Before making use of the service for the first time, you have to supply your personal details at the Department for Social Affairs (Abteilung Soziales). Please present the following documents: your ID card for disabled persons issued by the Federal Welfare Agency (Bundessozialamt), your bank account no. (if you have one), written power of attorney if the disabled person has sent a representative.

Eligible for this service are the following disabled citizens of Klagenfurt “blind and practically blind persons”, “persons for whom it is not acceptable to use public transportation means.”

Wheelchair users who depend on a vehicle lifting system can make use of the disabled transport service of the Austrian Red Cross and/or of the Zivilinvalidenverband on the same conditions.
